International Council
of Nurses

The ICN is a federation of more than 130 national nurses associations representing millions of nurses worldwide.

Their work is always a challenge as it has to cross all the boundaries of gender, ethnicity and location. The design always needs to be colourful and a little bit restrained to reflect the ICN's position.

I am always trying to push the limits of creativity whilst remaining sensitive to the sometimes sombre images and issues. They have been my client since 1997.

"Our new brand was a major project skillfully executed and thoughtfully undertaken, the new logo positioned us perfectly for our mission on the world stage."

Chief executive officer, ICN, Geneva
Corporate identity
The logo is inspired by Florence Nightingale's lamp with the flame as a symbol of learning and knowledge. The lamp also suggests outstretched arms to encapsulate caring. A stylised globe is also featured to re-inforce the international aspect and audience.
Christmas card
The card design was made from elements of the ICN logo, the white heart is the international symbol for nurses. The text around the outside is 'seasons greetings' in three languages.
Corporate poster
A1 size information poster outlining the roles and responsibilities nurses have to their patients.
